Preparation of Multan Master Plan 2008-2028
First ever Master Plan for Multan was prepared in 1970 by H&PP Department, Government of the Punjab, which remained unattended by the agencies in Multan. Later a revised Maser Plan for Multan was prepared in the year 1987, will now expire in 2007. LGO and Cities Act require the Master Plan to be current, thus MDA and City District have agreed to prepare a revised version from the matching grant of Govermnet of Punjab and City District. In April 2007, NESPAK was selected as consultants of the project, to complete the task in a period of eighteen months. The over all consultancy job includes: Master Plan of Multan; a spatial plan of all the urban settlements of Multan District; a satellite imageries of the urban areas, traffic & transportation plan; land use plan; environmental and water & sanitation studies.

Being
an acient

has a lot of cultural
heritage eg Qila
Qasim Bagh,
Faseel,
Ghanta Ghar,
Damdama,
Eidgah Masjid (the
red-stone praying
place built by Mughal
Empror Shahjehan
in 1938) and so
many.
The City District Government Multan (CDGM) was keen to restore and preserve these sites in their original shape. A conservation project was designed and the CDGM has appropriated an amount of Rs 50 million that includes the following:

MDA has started execution of the project of Goal Market (the round market), land has been acquired and the owners have been given the compensation of the land and structures. Inhabitants of the Katchi Abadi have been allotted plots in the new site near Suraj Miani and the developmental works have been started.
Northern Bypass Road (from LMQ Road to Multan Bypass - Dual Carriageway)
MDA had designed a ring road around the city to relieve traffic problems in the inner city roads. In the fiscal year 2005-06, the government of the Punjab has released an amount of Rs 253.818 million for land acquisition of the project. The amount has been deposited to the Land Acquisition Collector and land acquisition is in process. Its construction is expected to start in near future after obtaining approval from ECNEC being the President's Directive.
Southern Bypass Road (from LMQ Road to Bahawalpur Chowk - Dual Carriageway)
The project is based on President's directive. For this portion of the ring road, the government of the Punjab has provided Rs 183.150 million to acquire the land upto 2005-06. Its construction is expected to start in the fiscal year 2007-08. The amount has been transferred to the Land Acquisition Collector and the acquisition is at final stage. The total cost of the project is Rs.997.090 million.
Development of Parks
The City District Government Multan (CDGM) has a motive to make "Green and Clean Multan". For the development/renovation of 14 parks and green belts, the CDGM has allocated about Rs 41 million in 2006-07. Being an executing agency, MDA has completed the development works in the following parks and green belts as per allocation of funds during financial year 2006-07.

Multan Model Town-3 - Electrification Work
Developmental works in Multan
Model Town Phase-3 have been completed. Only electrification work is in progress which is scheduled to be completed by December 2007.
Fatima Jinnah Town Phase-2
The trust and interest of the public over its first phase has moved MDA to prepare its second phase. The scheme has been approved and an area of 650 acres (likely to extend) is earmarked adjacent to the phase-1. The scheme has been designed.
