POWERS & FUNCTIONS OF DIRECTOR ENGINEERING
1.
Exercise the same powers prescribed in the Delegation of Powers under Financial Rules, 1990 for the Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineers of C&W Department.

To accept tenders upto any amount subject to the conditions that first the normal procedure laid down for invitation of tender has been followed: secondly the rates quoted and/or amount tendered such that the total cost of a project/work does not exceed the amount for which the project/work has been administratively approved by more than 4.5% and thirdly where the lowest tender is not accepted, all cases must be referred to Director General upto 50 lac. While tender beyond 50 lac shall be referred to Administrative Department.

Preparation of plans and cost estimates of all engineering works in MDA including preparation of PC-I & PC-II for approval of competent authority.

Preparation of detailed designs and detailed estimates for technical sanction of all engineering works
5.
Preparation of tender documents and award of works to contractors for execution
6.
Monitoring of work progress in accordance with availability of funds
7.
Maintenance of MDA roads, machinery, parks and buildings.
8.
Engagement of consultants for important engineering projects
9.
Execution of present and future projects to achieve better quality of works and ensuring proper utilization of funds
10.
Supervision and execution of government funded projects
11.
Computerization of office functioning and estimation of projects
